Hello You,
Instagram Reel People are coming to Facebook
They’re already a must-have on Instagram, and they’ve made TikTok a worldwide success. Now, Reels are finally coming to the Facebook social network. The feature will initially be available in the United States, India, Mexico and Canada and will be visible to a handful of test users. It will be found directly in the classic news feed but also in groups (and can in this case be watched by several people).
A feature that offers new opportunities
According to Facebook, more than half of the time spent on the social network is dedicated to videos. It is therefore in this logic that the firm is positioning itself more on the subject. The objective of this new feature would be to offer a new means of expression, another way to discover content, to be entertained. It would also be a way for content creators to increase their reach and potentially the income generated for the work done.
A head-on battle with the TikTok application
TikTok recently passed 3 billion downloads. According to several rankings, it would also be the most popular social application in 2020. Results that are starting to make the indomitable Facebook tremble and force it to reinvent itself. In short, on this point Facebook tends to be a bit late. This reminds us of the launch of stories at the time. Snapchat’s flagship feature, Facebook, had then decided to integrate a copy on all its platforms.
A format dedicated to content creators
Social networks are increasingly turning their attention to content creators. Indeed, they represent the future of these platforms, the traction of the latter. Many features are proposed in this sense (Instagram link to an external site, super follow on Twitter, etc. …). In the same logic, Facebook has declared that it plans to devote more than a billion dollars to content creators on Instagram and Facebook by 2022. The social network would thus work on bonus features. Rumors are also talking about seed funding.
