Hey you!
The implementation of monetization tools for content creators is the new key issue for social platforms and networks. The reason? To allow them to perpetuate their activity, to propose various and varied contents to the users, to comfort the business model of each one. And many of them are doing just that. Twitter with the Super follow, Spotify with the paid subscription, Pinterest with the Creator Reward program… In short, Instagram is about to join the dance! We explain!
A new and paying subscription system
The rumors are becoming more and more important. Some managers within the firm have discreetly mentioned the subject during various interviews. Instagram would be on the verge of launching a paid and unpublished subscription system. Nothing is official, nothing is denied so far. This feature would be very similar to the Super Follow found on Twitter.
A feature in test in the United States
Concretely, what will this feature look like? Very simple. The idea is to offer a paid subscription to the different members of the content creators’ communities. In exchange, they could benefit from exclusive content (live, videos, chat, etc…). Sensor Tower (a company specializing in studies on commercial exchanges and more broadly on the economy of application stores) has announced two purchase options. They are visible on the American App store since the beginning of November: a first one for 0.99 dollars (0.86 euros) and a second one for 4.99 dollars (4.36 euros).
Deployment planned for 2022
For the moment, no announcement of a launch date. Instagram first plans to test these new tools with target users, in specific geographical areas. Depending on the results, the features will then be gradually deployed in the rest of the world. This feature should therefore not appear before the end of the year but rather during 2022.
Paid subscription, a tool already offered by Mym
If this announcement is good news, it is not revolutionary. Several social networks have already integrated this feature in their strategy. This is for example the case of the Mym platform, the French nugget that has already attracted more than 8 million users. The latter has offered the paid subscription feature since its inception. The result? Content creators who can monetize their work, record user engagement, varied and quality content. In short, it seems to be a winning bet!
